China Glaze Glistening Snow and Winter Holly

Hi guys!

10 more days until Christmas! I need to get started until some Christmas nail art! But life has been very busy lately.

I want to share with you Glistening Snow by China Glaze. Glistening Snow is part of the 2012 Holiday Joy Collection. This polish is a silver holographic micro glitter. I loved the application of this polish, it went on smooth, didn't get clumpy at all, and has great coverage. The amount of coats needed would depend on the effect you are looking for. If you want to use it as a top coat over a colored base, one coat would be perfect. Two coats would give you a lot of coverage with minimal natural nail peeking through. I wanted full coverage, so I used three coats. One piece of advice, Glistening Snow seems to be dry to the touch very quickly after applying but it is not really dry. I learned this lesson the hard way; I had to perform polish surgery on my index finger to save the manicure.

I was feeling a little bit creative and didn't want just a plain color so I did an accent nail with Winter Holly (a green micro glitter with  a holo-flex), also in the  2012 Winter Joy Collection by China Glaze.

This polish and my camera sure did not see eye to eye...it was so stinking hard to get a good picture to show off the "rainbow" from the holo glitter.  It sparkels so much more in real life! Reminds me of twinkle lights! :)

China Glaze Glitter All the Way

Hey guys!

I'm excited to share some of my favorite glitters for the holiday season. I am a glitter fanatic! If it's glitter, it's for me.

China Glaze's Glitter All the Way. This polish is packed! full of glitter! It has micro gold, purple, and red glitters with small green glitters. It looks more like a Mardi Gras polish than a holiday polish for Christmas. However, when applied to the nail the light catches the red glitters and they stand out. This makes it look more Christmasy. Reminds me of twinkle lights on my Christmas tree.

Coverage was quite easy. Only two coats and I got 100% coverage without a base color. The polish got really gloppy around the rim of the bottle which made cleaning the brush off difficult. I had to get a wipe it off with a cotton square so I could control the amount of polish getting onto the brush.

Overall, I feel like Glitter All the Way is full of glitter goodness!

Here is all close up....air bubble and all! ;)

I created a Flickr album so we all can share our winter/holiday manicures! I thought this would be a great way to share and get inspiration. Can't wait to see what the other lacquer obsessed  are up to! ;)
What are you waiting for? Share something!

Essie School of Hard Rocks

Hi everyone!!

If you haven't noticed, I love dark, muted colors in winter. From now on, my Winter colors will be glittery, shimmery, and sparkilicious! One think I love about the Winter/Christmas season is all the twinkly, sparkly lights!

Today I am sharing Essie's School of Hard Rocks. This color is a deep, muted teal color. It is a very unique blue. I'm not the hugest fan of blue, I like more of the "off" blues and this one definitely fits the bill! As usual, I have no issues with the formula. Easy two coats and done.  I usually don't take a picture both in natural and artificial light unless I think it makes a difference. This shade for sure looks different outside than inside.

Essie Don't Sweater It

Hi everyone!

I'm a bit excited that I am very nearly done Christmas shopping! Christmas is just around the corner!

Today I'm sharing with you one of my favorite grays; Essie's Don't Sweater ItLet me begin by saying that this polish looks completely different on Essie's website. It looks like a light, cool mauve color. In person, however, it is a muted mauve with gray undertones. Again, I like deep, muted colors in the winter.

Despite an identity crisis on what color it should be, Don't Sweater It has great coverage. Two coats and you're done! When dry, it looks different on the nail than it does in the bottle. On the nail it looks more like more grayish than in bottle. However, I'm kinda thinking it might be my skin tone that is creating this difference in color. Overall, I think it is a great polish and a great color for the Winter season.

P.S: Please ignore my uneven middle nail, had a nail accident :|

Essie Silken Cord

Hi everyone!

The winter season will not be complete with a vibrant red; Essie's Silken Cord is just that. It's great to add a pop of color to your winter wardrobe.

The formula is smooth and easy to apply. However, in order for it to be bright red and opaque it needs at least three coats. I feel like I could have done a fourth coat but was afraid it would never dry so, I stopped at three.

I think is color would be great alone or as a base for a really fun glitter or Christmas nail art! Looking forward to playing with some design ideas with this color.

OPI Uh-Oh Roll Down the Window

Hi Guys!

Today, I am sharing another Winter favorite of mine.

I bought this polish over the summer. The shade itself caught my eye but when I picked it up and saw the name...I just HAD to get it!

OPI's Uh-Oh Roll Down the Window is a deep forest/army green. I am a big fan of the formula of this polish. It is opaque in one coat...but I always do at least two coats when I paint my nails. However, this one would be good with just one.

I think this is a great polish for the Winter season because it is green and Christmasy without being crazy bright. It's more of a "classy" Christmas color! Keepin' it classy! ;)

Essie Power Clutch

Hi Guys!

It's December! I can't believe it! This year has flown on by....

The Winter/Holiday season is my favorite season and one of the times during the year that I get SUPER excited about polish. There are always fun colors coming out this time of year and I get to wear my darker polishes! I thought I would share some of my Winter favorites with y'all.

One color that I'm loving this winter is Essie's Power Clutch is a deep, muted gray. I love muted colors and this is definitely one I'll be wearing a lot this season. I used 3 coats to get it to be completely opaque and streak free.

Until next time! :)
